The Ntaruka Hydropower Plant is an 11.25 MW to 11.5 MW, run-of-river facility located in Northern Rwanda, commissioned in 1959. It is one of Rwanda's oldest and key renewable energy sources, utilizing water from Lake Burera and Lake Ruhondo to power the national grid. It is operated by the Rwanda Energy Group (REG). Students gained in knowledge in this study field by knowing how the electricity is generated.
